Where the stories come from
First Light is a front page of good news. Every story on it was reported by someone else. We show the publisher's headline with a link to the full story, then two short paragraphs of our own: what happened, then who benefits and why.
How it works
Every half hour the site reads the feeds of the publishers listed below. Stories from the good news publishers are read in full. Stories from the general news publishers are sorted first and only the ones that are clearly good news are read.
The reading and the writing are done by a language model that we run on our own hardware. It writes the summary and the note on who benefits from the publisher's article and from nothing else. It can still get a detail wrong, so follow the headline to the source before you rely on anything here.
What is left out
Politics. A headline that names a politician, a party or an election is dropped, whoever published it. So are war, crime and disaster. When the good part of a story is small beside a sad one, the story is left out.

For publishers
Headlines belong to their publishers. We copy no article text and no pictures. Our reader identifies itself as FirstLight, follows robots.txt and asks for each article once. If you publish one of these feeds and would rather not be included, write to legal@tektology.com and we will remove it.
